The residents of Soufriere were the beneficiaries of the 2023 St. Lucia Youth Conference initiative, hosted by the local Seventh-day Adventist Church. Held under the theme, “Youth on Duty: Lewwe Make a Move”, the program was hosted from July 13-18th and intended to teach young participants the social and spiritual awareness required to impact their communities for the better.
As part of this year’s activities, attendees planted a flower garden in the community. Palms tree and other flowering plants were added to a lot opposite Massy Stores. The project received high praise from members of the community, including the deputy mayor of Soufriere, Cletus Didier, who took to social media to thank the SDA Church for their willingness to contribute to the development of the town.
“Your turnout and participation on Sunday, truly made the long-awaited flower garden a reality, and this is also a testament of how powerful, meaningful and impactful you can be as a positive unit. I can assure you, that the Soufriere Fond St. Jacques Constituency Council, will give your project all the attention and care it need, so that your efforts and sweat will not go in vain” the deputy said.
