An inquiry has been initiated into what is now recorded as the sixth homicide in 2024. On Thursday, January 18, 2024, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the Marchand Police Station in Castries was notified of a shooting at the junction of Marchand and Chaussee Roads, Castries.
Police officers promptly responded to the report and initiated investigations. Jakim Duncan, a twenty-one-year-old resident of Bagatelle, Castries, was transported to the Owen King European Union (OKEU) Hospital by Emergency Medical Technicians from the Saint Lucia Fire Service for medical attention. He sustained multiple injuries and subsequently succumbed to them. A medical practitioner at the OKEU confirmed his death.
