The family of Omar Defrietas, will be able gain some closure after the Royal St. Lucia Police Force confirmed that body found at Cap Estate on April 1st is that of the missing man. Defrietas, who was reported missing on January 5, 2023, was last seen leaving his staff party at the Sandals Golf and Country Club in the area. On Tuesday April 1, 2023 a motorcar which was later revealed to be that of Defrietas was recovered in a pond at Cap Estate, Gros Islet, with skeletal remains inside. Currently, there is no confirmation as to what caused the vehicle to veer off the road.
