The Leader of the Opposition, Allen Chastanet and the Speaker of the House, Claudius Francis are set to face of in court again.
This time over the latest ruling by Claudius Francis to indefinitely suspend the MP for Micoud North from the Parliamentary proceedings. The action was taken following Chastanet’s refusal to apologize for a statement that he claims is correct.
This is the second time that the two parties have found themselves in a legal battle within the last few months.
Chastanet is fighting the Speaker’s decision on the basis of what he argues was an unconstututional ruling. He is seeking among other legal remedies, undisclosed damages for breach or other contravention of his constitutional rights and wrongful arrest or detention.
