Several farmers have claimed that they have received unfair treatment by their former landlord. The farmers had been long standing tenants of Davie Estate Company Ltd and say they have been subjected to unwarranted evictions over the past few days. According to the tenants, they have been given less than the legally stipulated time for eviction and were asked to leave the premises before harvesting their crops, or receiving due compensation. The farmers also claim that after the passage of hurricane Elsa in July 2021, they were given no grace period to recover from their losses, which had been the norm.
