The finalist list for the 2023 Calypso Monarch Finals has been revised following the withdrawal of Kaiso artiste, Walleigh. In his place, another calypso heavyweight, Herb Black, will compete for the crown. Widely recognized as the “people’s favourite”, the veteran calypsonian will compete against 8 other performers to dethrone Dezral as King.
In an interview on Hot 7 TV’s, Good Morning St. Lucia, the “No Ferandum” singer stated that there “will be a surprise”, when he performs at the Finals. He noted that many fans wanted to see him in the finale regardless of how he got in.
“God works in mysterious ways you know” he told host Shannon Lebourne. “I was first out, then back in. So we are going to celebrate with the people on that night” the singer added.
The 2023 Calypso Monarch Finals is scheduled to take place on July 8th, 2023.
