The department of infrastructure has called on drivers to exercise greater levels of caution whilst traversing the road. This comes in the aftermath of a tragic incident involving one of the department’s potholers. Valence “Trini” Alexander, who lost his life in a road accident earlier this year, became the catalyst for the department’s plea for caution. According to eyewitness accounts, the driver did not obey the road signs, which led to worker’s demise.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Transportation, Lenita Joseph, noted that there were more workers on the roadways due to public demands for fixing and therefore motorist needed to exercise additional caution.
“It is of great concern to us, now, that despite all the steps we have taken to ensure that we have provided a safe environment for our staff and that we are being responsive to the needs of the public, that we are encountering these types of very unfortunate events.” Joseph said.
The Deputy PS pled with members of the public to work together with the employees so that can do their job safely.
