Residents of Morne Fortune, Castries, will be able to sleep better tonight following the apprehension of a young armed robber by police. The notorious perpetrator was taken into custody on Tuesday. According to official reports, Mickeil Dubois has been charged with robbery and assault with a firearm.
The arrest follows a report filed on Monday, May 15 of the theft of a cellular phone and an undisclosed sum of cash. At around 6:45 p.m., officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), were heralded to the plight of the victim and an investigation was set in motion thereafter.
The culprit would strike again in a separate incident on Tuesday May 16. While patrolling the streets of the city, police were alerted by a report of assault. This time Dubois would not escape the long arms of the law. he was successfully apprehended on Lewis Street, Castries where officers recovered one firearm, one magazine and the cellular device belonging to the victim of the robbery at Morne Fortune.
The accused was escorted to the First District Court, on Wednesday, May 17, where bail was set at fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) for illegal possession of a firearm and one thousand dollars ($1,000) for the offence of Assault.
